Dr. Qiuzhen YIN |
Qiuzhen Yin is Professor at UCLouvain and Senior Research Associate of the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.-FNRS). Her research bridges the gap between proxy reconstruction and paleoclimate modelling, offering an interdisciplinary perspective on past climate changes. Her scientific trajectory evolved from a doctoral research focusing on paleoclimate reconstructions based on the loess in China to a career dedicated to paleoclimate modelling. By integrating paleoclimate records and Earth system models, she investigates climate variability across millennial and orbital timescales as well as abrupt climate changes, with a particular focus on: astronomical theory of paleoclimates, atmosphere-ocean-ice sheet-carbon cycle interactions, paleo-monsoon dynamics, glacial-interglacial cycles, interglacial climates and implication for the future. She is Executive Secretary of the International Commission on Climate (ICCL) of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS), IUGG, and an Editor of Climate of the Past and Quaternary Science Reviews.
