Actual work
I’m currently doing a PhD thesis in tectonic geomorphology. The aim of my work is to highlight the interrelations between the spatial variability of the tectonic activity in the Belgian Ardennes Massif with long term erosion rates that occurred in the river catchments.
My work can actually be divided in three parts :
- Computer modelling : I focussed on the relations between the catchment / river morphometry (slope, relief, shape, concavity, ...) and the tectonic history of the Ardennes Massif. A DEM (Digital Elevation Model, of 20m resolution) was used to extract those morphometric parameters and be related to the tectonic map of the region.
- Field campaign + Lab work : River sediments have been treated for Cosmogenic Nuclide analysis. This analysis is designed to give us the long term erosion rates of the studied catchments (typically on a 104 - 105 years timescale).
- Statistical study : analysis of the three variables (Erosion, Tectonic Activity, and Morphometry) in a comprehensive way, to understand the driving forces of landscape evolution.

Teaching and student supervision experience
Teaching experience, september 2008 – now at UCLouvain (Belgium) (~200 hours in classroom per year) :

- Graduate level practical works (MSc) : Tectonic Geomorphology (LGEO 2240, inc. fieldwork), Advanced Physical Geography (LGEO2140) and Fieldworks in Geography (LGEO2270).
- Assistance in cartography, and GIS for master thesis and postgraduate trainees.
