Post-doctoral scientist position at ULiège, Belgium

The Laboratory of Climatology from the University of Liège is looking for a postdoc, with a strong research experience with the ocean model NEMO, to fill an open position in ice sheet - atmosphere - ocean interaction around the Greenland ice sheet in the framework of the Belgian PARAMOUR project. The duration of this position is two years and half.

The main scientific tasks will be (1) to set-up a regional configuration of NEMO around Greenland, (2) to help the PARAMOUR research team to couple NEMO with the ice sheet model GISM from VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and the atmospheric regional climate model MAR from ULiège, (3) to study the (present and future) interactions between the ice sheet and the oceanic conditions in Arctic as well as the potential positive feedbacks enhancing the melt of the ice sheet.

Review of applications will begin on 13 January 2020. Demonstrated experience in running NEMO for scientific purposes is required and expertise in polar regions and/or in the set-up of a regional configuration of NEMO is a strong added value. Please contact me at xavier.fettweis@uliege.be.
